How to use this 2027 budget calculator
Start with your monthly take-home pay, not your salary before tax. Then fill in what you actually spend. The calculator compares your spending with the popular 50/30/20 rule: about half of income for needs, 30% for wants and 20% for savings and extra debt payments.
The 50/30/20 rule is a starting point, not a law. If rent takes 40% of your income, your needs bucket will run high, and that's normal in many cities. Use the gap column to find one or two changes you can actually keep.
Your numbers are saved only in this browser, so you can come back later. Click Print my summary for a one-page sheet with space to write your three money goals for 2027.
